Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) is an Aboriginal community organization founded in 1981. It is the largest Aboriginal Registered Housing Agency in Australia, managing over 1,500 rental properties for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in Victoria. AHV's vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities.
In addition to its core housing management responsibilities, AHV is the lead agency for Victoria’s Aboriginal housing and homelessness policy, Mana-na worn-tyeen maar-takoort. This position enables AHV to hold the government accountable in securing the required resources and reforms to implement the policy, in addition to supporting sector development to empower Victoria’s Aboriginal community to determine its chosen housing future.
Although the specific details of the company's headquarters and last investment are not available, AHV's commitment to addressing the housing needs of the Aboriginal community aligns with the broader societal goals of affordable housing and community development, making it an organization worth considering for social impact investments within the Social Media industry. Its dedication to creating positive change and providing essential services to a historically underserved community is commendable and presents a compelling case for potential venture capital involvement in the future.
