ABAN (African Business Angel Network) is a pan-African non-profit association established in 2015 to nurture early-stage investor networks and stimulate interest among (early-stage) investors in Africa. The organization strives to foster a culture of angel investing across the continent by connecting and promoting emerging networks and sharing best practices. ABAN works to engage private sector investors and provide guidance on investing in African innovations, aiming to bolster the startup ecosystem and support entrepreneurs. It initially formed as a consortium including the Lagos Angels Network (LAN), Cameroon Angel Network (CAN), Ghana Angel Network (GAIN), Venture Capital for Africa (VC4Africa), Silicon Cape, and received support from the European Business Angel Network (EBAN), LIONS Africa Partnership, and DEMO Africa. ABAN aims to serve as a hub for connecting African networks, supporting new investors, and maximizing their impact to link African investors with global counterparts, with its headquarters in Mauritius.
